Solid Steel Beasts from Kirich Metals
How the Beasts came to be
I love doing projects with sheet steel. I noticed I had a bunch of scrap pieces I didn't know what to do with. I was just going to recycle my pile of scrap, but it didn't quite feel right because some pieces were pretty large.
I've always had a love for mythical creatures and as I was staring at one of the sharper angled pieces, it struck me that it looked a lot like a dragon wing!
After some tinkering that night with the laser cutter, I had a complete fire dragon.
I put it on my desk, and it got a lot of attention:
Passer-by notices beast: "These are the coolest dragons I've ever seen!"
Me: "I put them together myself from scrap metal."
Passer-by picks one up: "What the #$%# they are @#$@ awesome!"
Laser cutting with precision
I decided to make more: Fire Dragon, Frost Wyrm, Siberian Wolf, Griffin, Unicorn and Tiger were my favorite. (Yes there are more, but I wanted to start with my favorite designs). I even made every beast is adjustable and moveable, with joints at points of interest (legs, wings, etc).
The fire dragon was always my favorite: it's the king of all mythical beasts.
The antithesis to the fire dragon is the Frost Wyrm. Frost Wyrms are the skeletal remains of adult blue dragons killed by the Scourge. These reanimated vessels of destruction do not fear death; they dispense it! They have cold-based breath that counteracts the fire-breathing dragons.
Siberian Wolves live in packs and work together to hunt, raise their young, and protect their territory.
In the Middle Ages, it was first described as a wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace. Its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable with healing properties. For those who still keep an innocent and young heart.
I made Tiger with the sharp teeth and the powerful feet. They believe more in their own power, hunting alone, raising their young alone.
Since antiquity, Griffins were known for guarding treasure. I had a griffin obsession when I was younger and now I'm happy to bring one to life!
